Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk

“This is a short blog entry about what we do. I’ll begin with an example.

Our firm acted for a Lebanese lady who was injured in a slip-and-fall accident. A conference took place at our offices  which she attended. I quickly noticed that her English was not fluent, so I began conversing with her in Arabic (to her surprise). I then went on to conduct some translation between all those present in the room. This seemed to put her at great ease in terms of understanding the process. At the conclusion of the conference, she heatedly thanked me for providing her with advice in her native tongue; for putting her in the know; for transmitting information to her that she could decipher.

But why is that so important? Because people want to understand, as well as be understood. You and I, all of us. This has nothing to do with being a lawyer or a Plaintiff. It has everything to do with being human.

A firmly established rule is that the ultimate motivator for understanding another, and having them understand you, is possessing a genuine interest in them- – and a concern for their welfare. It can naturally be daunting for you, the injured person, to approach the compensation system without being confident that your voice will be heard. But whether it be semantics or legal principles, know that our intention is to keep you informed every step of the way because we genuinely care.

For the record, I am not the only multi-lingual person at the firm. In fact, PK Simpson Lawyers is the proud home of professionals with fluency in over 15 languages.

You see we all speak well, but we communicate even better.”
